I consulted with Lois O'Brien just to test my\r\nimpressions. It appears to be either an Achilixiidae or a weird group of cixiids,\r\nthe Bennarellini. The former is more likely. If it is a cixiid, the females will\r\nhave a distinct (\"sword-shaped\") ovipositor, similar to that seen on a cicada. An\r\nAchilixiid would have a reduced ovipositor, and you might have troubles separating\r\nmales from females. \r\n\r\nThat is not much help, I guess, but it is a start. Both are relatively small groups\r\n- should not be too hard to get a species on them.\r\n\r\n-CRB\r\n\r\nUniversity of Delaware\r\nDepartment of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology\r\n250 Townsend Hall\r\n531 S College Ave\r\nNewark, DE 19716-2160\r\n\r\nDept phone (302) 831-2526\r\nFax (302) 831-8889<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fulgaroids? resting\/feeding on banana.
